National Geographic Live brings archaeologist and explorer Caitie Barrett to Reynolds Hall to talk about Pompeii, the Roman city buried by Mount Vesuvius, and what excavations reveal about the people who lived there. Barrett teaches classics at Cornell University and co-directs an excavation at Pompeii; the presentation runs about 70 minutes, followed by roughly 15 minutes of audience Q&A. It is an evening talk best suited to curious older children and teens who like history, volcanoes or archaeology. The Smith Center admits children aged 5 and up with a ticket. Tickets were listed from $23.00 to $56.40 including fees on the show page.
