The Chester County Turkey Trot marks its 25th year on Thanksgiving morning at Downingtown West High School, drawing around 3,000 runners and walkers. The Gold Wave 5K for runners expecting to finish under 25 minutes starts at 7:40 am, the Blue Wave 5K and the 2K walk at 8:15, and the free Kids' Run, presented by Track Stars Youth Programs, at 9 am on the school track behind the tennis courts. Awards follow at about 9:15. The 5K and 2K walk cost $35 until October 31, then $38, and $40 from November 25; the kids' run is free but comes without a T-shirt. Strollers are strongly discouraged in the Blue Wave and not allowed in the Gold Wave, and pets are not permitted. Proceeds support the Downingtown West cross country team and Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for childhood cancer research.
