The 9th annual Elf 'N' Cocoa holiday race starts at the RiverWinds Community Center in West Deptford on Sunday, December 6, on a paved waterfront course with views of Philadelphia. Kids go first with an untimed one-mile fun run at 8:40 am (check in by 8:20), and a parent can run along without registering; every kid gets a finisher medal and an Elf n Cocoa beanie if registered by December 2. The chip-timed 5K starts at 9 am and the 8K at 9:05, with walkers welcome in the 5K. All registered participants get hot cocoa from Death of the Fox Coffee House at the finish, and adults get a medal and custom cocoa mug. There is a donut truck, a DJ playing holiday music, a visit from a special character, and jogging strollers are allowed (dogs are not). The kids' run is $30 ($35 from October 30), the 5K $46 and the 8K $50. Proceeds support the HEADstrong Foundation.
