Montgomery Township closes the US 202 Parkway on Thanksgiving morning for the 11th annual MoTown Turkey Trot, run with Scoogie Events and benefiting the Fire Department of Montgomery Township. Check-in runs from 6:15 to 7:30 am at the host venue, Kiddie Academy on Horsham Road in North Wales, before everyone walks to the start: the 8K goes at 8 am, then the 5K, the 2-mile fun run/walk and finally the half-mile Gobble-Gobble Kids' Fun Run at about 8:10. From 8:30 to 10 am an after party in the Kiddie Academy lot has hot chocolate, snacks, bounce houses, costume contest winners and awards; the kids' run and fun run are untimed and just for fun. Registration on RunSignup is $18.99 for the kids' run through October 31 and rises in steps to $25.99 on race day; the 5K is $47.99 and the 8K $57.99 right now. The organizers say last year's race sold out well before race day.
