Nockamixon State Park

Kids and their grownups explore Nockamixon State Park after dark on Friday, October 23, from 6:30 to 8 pm. After a short talk about what they will be looking for, the park naturalist leads a one-mile hike on paved and unpaved paths with stops to find nighttime objects, critters and other things that only show up after sunset, including a quiet listening stop for night sounds. The program is best suited for children 8 and up; younger children are welcome if they can manage the hike and sit quietly, and every child needs an adult. It is free, but each person, adult or child, must register through the DCNR listing. Bring sturdy shoes, water and a flashlight or headlamp. The group meets at the Environmental Education Center, reached by a wooded path from Parking Lot 12.
