On Halloween, Saturday, October 31, Third Street in historic downtown McMinnville shuts down for the McMinnville Downtown Association's annual Trick-or-Treat family fun day. From 4 to 6 p.m., families can walk the street and visit downtown businesses that hand out treats. Throughout October, local businesses also decorate the Third Street lampposts with scarecrows for the association's Scarecrows on a Lamp Post contest, with online voting October 20-30 and winners announced on Halloween, so children can look for their favorite scarecrows while trick-or-treating. The association's Spooky Coloring Contest, which has a kids' category for ages 0-12, announces its winners the same day.
