The Arden-Dimick Friends of the Library host a free winter party at the branch on the first Wednesday afternoon of December. Every child who comes goes home with two free books, and the afternoon also includes face painting, crafts and story reading. The library lists it for all ages, from babies and preschoolers through teens and grown-ups, so it works well as a stop for a whole family after school. It runs for an hour and a half; no registration is listed, so families can drop in during the event window. Arrive early if you want the widest choice of books.
