- Mammen Family Public Library with the Friends of Guadalupe River State Park and Honey Creek SNA
A local-history program for teens and adults from the Mammen Family Public Library in Bulverde and the Friends of Guadalupe River State Park and Honey Creek State Natural Area. From 10:30 am to noon, a presentation in the library's Meeting Room C uses photographs and documents to tell the story of the Doeppenschmidt and Weidner families, German immigrant ranchers who lived on land that is now the state park and natural area. From 12:30 to 2:30 pm there is an optional visit to the Doeppenschmidt-Weidner homestead in Honey Creek State Natural Area — normally closed to the public — including the old ranch house and a conversation with a Weidner descendant. The program is suitable for ages 13 and older and registration is required through the library.
