Quarry Lakes Regional Recreation Area in Fremont turns 25, and the Park District is marking it with a free drop-in celebration at the Ensenada parking area. Children can try fishing games, join guided walks along the lakes and peer into the Mobile Fish Tank to see local fish up close. Emergency-vehicle fans get to inspect a fire truck and a park patrol car, and information booths from the Park District and its partners explain what lives in and around the lakes. Food trucks will be on site and a limited amount of anniversary swag is handed out while it lasts. The program is listed for all ages with parent participation required; no registration is needed, so families can come for a short visit or stay for the morning. Regular parking fees apply where charged, so budget for the entry kiosk.
