Highlands Council hosts its third annual Holiday Tree Lighting in Village Green Park in the Issaquah Highlands. Neighbors gather for free hot chocolate, apple cider and cookies while carolers sing holiday songs. Children can have their photo taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus and meet the Issaquah Police Department and Eastside Fire & Rescue. Mayor Mark Mullet flips the switch to light the big tree at 5:30 pm, about half an hour into the 90-minute event. It is a short, outdoor early-evening gathering that suits families with young children. Sponsors are Highlands Fiber Network, Puget Sound Energy and Issaquah Ice Cream Trike.
