Over the two days after Christmas, Northwest Trek decorates its paths and gives the animals holiday-themed enrichment, such as cardboard gingerbread houses and paper chains stuffed with meatballs, vegetables and fruit, so families can watch skunks, lynx, beavers and others investigate their presents. Visitors can take a Free-Roaming Area tour to spot elk, mountain goats and bison in the winter quiet, sip hot chocolate, shop the gift shop and let children burn off energy at the Kids' Trek nature playground (it may close if frozen). Thomas Dambo's giant Trolls are also hidden in the forest. Included with regular admission or membership.
