Northwest Trek's Halloween evenings: families come in costume and explore the wildlife park at twilight along animal paths decorated with spooky lights and dotted with trick-or-treat stations (a map can be downloaded before the visit). The picnic pavilion has games with prizes such as skee-ball, bag tosses and beaver races, and at 6 and 7 pm kids can climb like a spider, swoop like a bat and make their own creature in the Kids' Trek play area. Keepers give evening chats about nocturnal animals (beavers 5:30, gray wolf 6:30, barn owls 7:30), the Cheney Discovery Center is open at night with reptiles and amphibians, and some of Thomas Dambo's giant Trolls can be found in the forest. Tickets are sold separately from regular admission.
