Dinosaur Park in Laurel, a fossil site run by Prince George's Parks, holds free open houses on the first and third Saturdays of each month from noon to 4 pm. Visitors get an orientation from park staff about the fossils and dinosaurs that once lived in Maryland, then search the ground surface inside the fossil site for naturally eroding fossils. There is no digging and no tools are allowed; closed-toe shoes are required, pets are not allowed, and visitors stay inside the rope fence. Scientifically important finds are kept by the park for research. ASL interpretation is offered at each event, and no reservations are needed. Dates in this window are October 17, November 7 and November 21, 2026.
