NOVA Parks

This Halloween edition of Potomac Overlook Regional Park's seasonal Animal Encounters lets children meet some of the nature center's supposedly scary residents up close. A NOVA Parks Roving Naturalist brings out the critters, explains how they live and lets visitors interact with them, so kids can decide whether these animals are really that frightening. It is a free drop-in: stop by the nature center any time between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m., no reservation needed. All ages are welcome, and children must be with an adult, which makes it an easy, low-key option for preschoolers.
