A NOVA Parks naturalist reads Anne Rockwell's picture book Hiking Day aloud, then leads young families on a little hike of their own through Winkler Botanical Preserve, following the story along the trail. The free one-hour program is aimed at preschoolers and early readers who are ready for a short walk in the woods. Meet on the Catherine Lodge porch at 2 p.m. Wear shoes that can handle a natural-surface path.
