Riverbend Park in Great Falls holds an evening Halloween nature hike on Saturday, October 31, 2026, from 7 to 8:30 pm. A guide takes families down the Follow the Hollows trail looking for bats, toads, salamanders, spiders and owls, and explains how these animals came to be symbols of the spooky season. The evening ends by a campfire with s'mores. The program is listed for ages 4 to adult, which makes it a gentle, nature-based alternative for young children on Halloween night. Bring flashlights and warm layers for a dark trail. The fee is $12 and registration is online through Fairfax County Parks.
