For International Bat Week, Riverbend Park offers an evening bat program on Friday, October 30, 2026, from 7 to 8 pm. Families learn about the lives of these flying mammals while completing an educational scavenger hunt through the woods, then finish by making a bat decoration from natural materials to take home. Listed for ages 5 to adult, it is a one-hour after-dark outing that suits early elementary children and older siblings. The fee is $10 with online registration through Fairfax County Parks; dress for the evening outdoors.
