Expert Encounters: Wings to Water is a hands-on session at the Sullenberger Aviation Museum about how passengers are evacuated from an airplane onto water, the scenario made famous by US Airways Flight 1549, the 'Miracle on the Hudson' aircraft displayed at the museum. Participants climb into and learn inside a real American Airlines life raft while a museum expert explains how rafts, slides and water evacuations work. Each encounter lasts about half an hour, with sessions at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on selected Thursdays (November 5 and 19, December 3 and 17). It is free with regular museum admission, which makes it an easy add-on for school-age children interested in planes and safety.
