McDowell Nature Center's Kids Hiking Club is a monthly drop-off hiking group for children ages 8 to 13 that explores the trails of McDowell Nature Preserve with a naturalist. Every child gets a trail passport and a 100-mile hike club card to log their miles and collect prizes along the way. Regular club hikes run 9 to 11 a.m. (October 23 was full; November 6 open), and longer 'On the Move!' hikes run 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on October 30 and November 20. Children should wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes and comfortable weather-appropriate clothing and bring a refillable water bottle; terrain is uneven. Pre-registration is required.
