McDowell Nature Center's Preschool Explorers Series is a drop-off nature class for children ages 4 to 6. Each session starts with a story, then children rotate with an experienced naturalist through discovery stations that build on it, which may include crafts, games, songs, animal encounters and outdoor exploration. Themes in the window are Acorns Abound (October 23), Falling Leaves (November 6) and Those Nutty Squirrels (November 20), with morning (9:30–11 a.m.) and afternoon (1:30–3 p.m.) sessions; register for only one per day. Pre-registration is required and walk-ins are not accepted. Pack a snack, a refillable water bottle and a full change of clothes and shoes, and dress for indoor and outdoor time.
