Highland Park's North Shore Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, November 26, 2026, includes a Kids' Trot alongside the 5K and 10K. Children race by age group, all starting at 10:00 a.m.: 2–4-year-olds run 50 yards, 5–6-year-olds a quarter mile and 7–10-year-olds a half mile. Kids stage on St. Johns Avenue just north of Elm Street at 9:45 a.m., family and friends cheer along the short course, and every finisher earns a reward. At the finish a 'Parent Reunite' system lets one parent or guardian, holding the tab from the child's bib, collect their runner in the chute. Afterward the post-race Turkey Trot Tailgate has pie, warm apple cider and music. There is no race-day packet pickup: packets are collected at Fleet Feet Deerfield (800 Waukegan Rd.) on November 21, 24 or 25, or mailed if added at registration by November 5. Street and garage parking is available downtown; do not use private business lots.
