About this adventure

Miss Shirley, a Denver-area drag performer who has led children's story times since 2017, hosts a Halloween costume storytime in the Arvada Center's ballrooms on Halloween morning, in partnership with Jefferson County Public Library. Kids are invited to come dressed in costumes or fall clothes; she reads favorite picture books (possible titles include Perfectly Norman and Be Who You Are), asks questions, shares personal stories and holds an 'Ask the Drag Queen' Q&A, and families can take photos with her. A themed craft table runs at the back of the room, and in the last 15 minutes children and parents trick-or-treat inside the building, so bring a candy bag or basket. Costume props that could be used to hit others, such as toy swords, guns or wands, are not allowed. RSVP online before attending.
