About this adventure

Grupo Huitzilopochtli, the Denver Aztec dance group founded by Capitan Raul Chavez after he came to Colorado from Mazatlan in 1969, performs traditional Mexica danza in a sensory-inclusive version of its Lone Tree Arts Center show. The hour-long performance is modified for children and adults on the autism spectrum and others with sensory sensitivities: quieter sound, brighter house lights, no startling effects, freedom to come and go, a quiet room, and waving instead of clapping. Families get a relaxed introduction to indigenous Mexican dance, drumming and regalia, and the group's message of community and stewardship.
