125-acre zoo in Royal Oak with animal habitats, the Polk Penguin Conservation Center, Frankel Stingray Cove, the National Amphibian Conservation Center and a carousel. Online admission uses date-based pricing: general admission (13-64) $14-$24, youth (2-12) and seniors (65+) $12-$21; at the gate it is $27 general, $24 youth/senior, $22 active military; children under 2 are free. Parking is $8. In fall and winter the gates close at 3:30 p.m. On Zoo Boo dates in October the zoo's regular hours are 10 a.m.-2 p.m. before the evening event. Membership includes unlimited daytime admission.
