About this adventure

Indiana's largest state park, nicknamed the Little Smokies, covers nearly 16,000 acres of steep hills, ridges and ravines near Nashville and is a classic fall-color destination with nearly 20 miles of tree-lined roads. Families can climb the 90-foot Fire Tower for a view over the hills, visit the nature center to see the state-endangered timber rattlesnake, walk easy loops such as the Strahl Lake Trail, and use the playgrounds. Abe Martin Lodge offers rooms, cabins, dining and a new indoor water park, and the park has large campgrounds and a seasonal pool (call the office for hours). RVs and vehicles towing trailers must use the West Gate because the North Gate passes through a historic covered bridge with a 9-foot clearance; GPS directions may send visitors to the wrong entrance.
