About this adventure

A 1,700-acre state park on the northeast side of Indianapolis, set on the former Fort Benjamin Harrison grounds with two national historic districts. Families can walk or bike the paved 3.2-mile Harrison Trace Trail from the Delaware Lake picnic area, follow the 1-mile Tree ID Trail around Millennium Grove with signposts naming each tree, or try longer hilly loops such as Fall Creek, Camp Creek and Lawrence Creek. There are picnic sites, fishing access on Fall Creek, a dog park (annual membership), and a nature center with interpretive naturalist programs. In winter the park has one of the biggest sledding hills in the area, plus cross-country skiing; spring brings woodland wildflowers. The saddle barn is temporarily closed while DNR looks for a new concessionaire.
