About this adventure

Naturalist-led fall color hikes at Indiana's largest state park during peak leaf season. The Discovery Trail hike starts at the Nature Center and covers about half a mile in roughly 40 minutes, talking about the park's fall colors, plants and animals, pioneer history and geology; it is moderate, with mud, roots, uneven ground and mild slopes. The Lake Ogle hike follows Trail 7 for 1.2 miles around the lake (about an hour and a half, with short staircases and roots), with lake history, wildlife and good spots for autumn photos; it meets at the Lake Ogle parking lot. The shorter Discovery Trail walk works for most school-age kids; Lake Ogle suits steadier hikers.
