About this adventure

The Indianapolis Zoo sits in White River State Park downtown and shares its main entrance with White River Gardens, which has been part of the zoo since 2006. The gardens hold more than 16,000 native and exotic plants, the glass-enclosed Hilbert Conservatory (a tropical oasis open year round), the DeHaan Tiergarten design gardens, a water garden and fountains, and a Family Nature Center where children learn about Indiana wildlife and habitats. Reservations are not required, and tickets bought online in advance are discounted. Through Nov. 1 the zoo runs ZooBoo festivities from 2 pm Wednesday to Sunday, and its holiday season follows (both listed separately as events).
