About this adventure

The Indianapolis Zoo's fall festival runs from 2 p.m. to close Wednesday through Sunday until Nov. 1. Kids follow a Trick-or-Treat Trail of eight treat stations in Plains, visit ZooBoo Village at Leeward Manor, where the silly-not-spooky Leeward Sisters and their Aunt Clara Voyant reveal each child's mystic animal match, and catch a potions class with Magnificent Mixie or Professor Pumpkin. At 4:30 p.m. the elephants stomp and snack on giant pumpkins at the Elephant waterfall. Rides get a twist: the reverse-running Round-Go-Merry carousel and the Spook-Track-Ular Train (both until 7 p.m.), plus a mirror maze and pirate games near Oceans. Costumes are encouraged, and kids 12 and under may wear masks or full face paint. Wednesday, Oct. 28 is a sensory-friendly day with reduced music and lights from 2 p.m., free sensory bags and quiet rooms.
