About this adventure

The 17th-century Spanish stone fort on St. Augustine's bayfront, run by the National Park Service. Children can explore the fort's lower rooms and historic weapons, climb to the upper gun deck, and talk with rangers, volunteers or costumed soldiers; outside, they can walk the perimeter past the moat, water battery and north boardwalk. The fort sits on 20 open, grassy acres where the north lawn is popular for picnics and kite flying. Kids can pick up the Junior Ranger activity book to earn a badge and patch. The gun deck closes during thunderstorms, but lower rooms stay open. Visitation is lightest from mid-September to mid-November and heaviest from Christmas to New Year's.
