About this adventure
St. Augustine's Nights of Lights season wraps the historic downtown in about 3 million white lights. It opens on Light-Up! Night, Saturday, November 21, in the Plaza de la Constitución: the city lists a 4 pm holiday song-and-dance show by Showtime USA, the All Star Orchestra playing swing and big-band holiday music at the Plaza gazebo at 5:30 pm, and the lighting ceremony at 6:30 pm, when the whole city switches on at once. The lights then shine every night through January 18. The city calls it a walking event best enjoyed strolling the Old World streets, which suits families with strollers on quieter weeknights; the city suggests Monday to Thursday visits for lighter crowds. Seeing the lights is free. Traffic and parking downtown are heavy, so the city urges visitors to use its free Park & Ride shuttle from perimeter lots on peak dates.
