About this adventure

A riverside archaeological park in St. Augustine on the site of Pedro Menéndez de Avilés's 1565 settlement, the start of the oldest continuously occupied European city in the United States. Families can sip from the spring in the Spring House, sit in the Navigators Planetarium and see the Discovery Globe, watch cannon firings and blacksmith demonstrations, walk through a recreated Timucuan village and the 1565 Menéndez settlement site, look over active excavations, climb the Spanish lookout and stroll the Founders Riverwalk. Peacocks roam the grounds. The park is dog friendly, parking is free, and there is a barbecue restaurant on site (or bring a picnic).
