Merriam Parks & Recreation holds a short daytime Halloween parade at the Merriam Community Center on the Friday before Halloween. Children march in costume and collect candy along the route, and grown-ups are encouraged to dress up too. The parade runs from 11:15 a.m. to noon, a time that suits preschoolers, homeschoolers and younger children not yet in full-day school. It is free and open to the public.
