South Coast Botanic Garden's dinosaur exhibit is back for a second year: ten life-size animatronic dinosaurs that move and make noise are spread across the 87-acre garden, plus one stationary Parasaurolophus that children can climb for a photo. Vintage-style billboards lead visitors on a road trip across the ancient supercontinent Pangea, explaining which dinosaurs lived where and when. New this year are the Europasaurus, Irritator and Parasaurolophus, a Prehistoric Pavilion welcome area and a take-home field guide. The exhibit is free with general garden admission. Optional add-ons: a guided 'Walking with Giants' trail tour for all ages (Mondays and Wednesdays 3:30 pm; weekends and select holidays 12:30 and 2:30 pm; $18 plus admission for non-members), the safari-style Pangea Express ride for up to six guests, recommended for ages 4 and up (weekends hourly 9 am–4 pm, $23 plus admission), and a mobility tour vehicle with room for one wheelchair user. The garden is open daily 8 am–5 pm.
