South Miami's Safe Streets Halloween is a long-running community trick-or-treat on Sunset Drive, presented by the City of South Miami and Miami Kids Magazine. Families walk the downtown stretch of Sunset Drive (SW 72nd Street) between US 1 and SW 57th Avenue, and the city's page lists trick-or-treating, candy giveaways, games, music, haunted houses and prizes. There is an allergy-friendly candy station, which makes it a good option for children with food allergies. Because it runs from 4 to 7 PM, mostly in daylight and early evening, it works for toddlers in strollers as well as elementary-age kids, while older children will head for the haunted houses. Come in costume and bring a bag or bucket for the candy; the city describes it as safe, family-friendly Halloween fun for the whole family.
