During the week between Christmas and New Year's, the Great Swamp Outdoor Education Center runs four single-day nature camps for children ages 6–10 who are off school. Each 9 am–3 pm day has its own theme. Monday, December 28 is about seeds, with a seed-search hike, games, scientific observations and a craft. Tuesday, December 29 covers the science of snow, from how snowflakes form to reading the weather in the clouds. Wednesday, December 30 looks at winter birds and how they survive, and campers make a bird feeder. Thursday, December 31 turns children into animal trackers looking for the signs wildlife leaves around the swamp. Campers bring a nut-free snack and lunch and should be ready to spend time outside. Each day is $65 per child and is booked separately.
