About this adventure

Each holiday season, the Red Earth Art Center in the lobby of downtown's BancFirst Tower fills with Christmas trees decorated by Tribal Nations and Native organizations from across Oklahoma. Each tree carries handmade ornaments, artwork and cultural details that tell the stories and traditions of the community that made it. Educational signs beside each tree explain the people behind it, so children can read along, look closely at the beadwork and ornaments, and compare trees. It makes a gentle, free family stop during a downtown lights outing on a weekday, and older kids get a lesson in the diversity of Oklahoma's Native nations. The 2026 trees include an intertribal tree from the OKC Indian Clinic, a docent tree and a women's tree. The art center's shop sells ornaments, jewelry and art by Native artists. Schools and groups from K–12 can schedule a group visit.
