On select Friday evenings the City of Apopka opens Camp Wewa, its wooded camp property on Binion Road, for a kids-only Parent's Night Out. Children ages 9 to 13 are dropped off at 5 p.m. in the Dining Hall and spend the evening on camp adventures and games with camp staff, while parents get four and a half hours to themselves; pick-up is 9:30 p.m., also at the Dining Hall. It is a good taste of summer-camp life for older kids who have never tried overnight camp. Registration is done online through the Camp Wewa tab on the city website. The fee is $25 for Apopka residents and $30 for non-residents per session.
