About this adventure
Orlando Metropolitan Ballet Academy (OrlandoMET), a small ballet school, presents its holiday ballet in two acts, set in the world of Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker. Clara receives a nutcracker doll; at midnight she travels into a snow-covered kingdom where the Nutcracker becomes a prince, and the Sugar Plum Fairy welcomes them to the Land of Sweets, where dances represent different confections. The dancers are the academy's own students, so it suits families with children who take ballet or who are curious about the Nutcracker story. The show runs about 2 hours 30 minutes including a 20-minute intermission, which is long for very young children. One evening performance in the Alexis & Jim Pugh Theater; tickets and paid parking are sold through the arts center.
