From November 5, 2026, through May 27, 2027, Sunnylands Center & Gardens in Rancho Mirage offers a free 60-minute guided bird walk every Thursday at 8:45 am. A knowledgeable birder leads guests through the Sunnylands gardens, pointing out local and migratory species. No reservation is needed and parking and admission are free; meet just outside the front entrance of the Sunnylands Center. Bring water, sun protection, binoculars if you have them and closed-toe shoes. Paths are paved or firmly packed decomposed granite and are wheelchair accessible, so the walk works for strollers too. Sunnylands tags it as family friendly — a calm introduction to birding for curious school-age kids.
