Guided tours of Mitchell Caverns in Providence Mountains State Recreation Area in the eastern Mojave Desert (San Bernardino County). The park is open September through June, 8 am to 5 pm, Friday-Sunday and holiday Mondays (closed July, August, Christmas Day and New Year's Day). From October through December tours run at 11 am and 2 pm, Friday through Sunday and holiday Mondays; in January and February 2026 a single 12 pm tour was offered. Tour tickets are $20 per adult, $10 per child (16 and below) and $19 for seniors, plus $10 vehicle day use. Reservations are required and are made only online at ReserveCalifornia.com (choose Providence Mountains SRA) or by phone at 1-800-444-7275; ticket holders check in 30 minutes before departure. The park will be closed the first three Fridays in December (Dec. 5, 12 and 19) for road repair. The page gives only a mailing address (PO Box 1, Essex, CA 92332).
