CDFW hatchery in eastern Sacramento County that raises Chinook salmon and steelhead for release to the American River. The salmon run occurs in fall, with hatchery operations from the beginning of November through mid-December; steelhead operations run January through February. Grounds include raceways, a fish ladder, an on-site nature trail along the American River and access to the American River Parkway trail. Public tours are listed for the 2nd Saturday of each month at 11am and a Tot Time storytime for ages 2-7 on the 3rd Sunday at 11am, but CDFW currently states the Visitor Center cannot open until further notice.

What was checked & what still needs confirmation
Page says the Visitor Center (owned by the Bureau of Reclamation) cannot open until further notice while hoping to reopen 'this fall'; unclear whether grounds, raceways, monthly public tours and Tot Time are running. Check the hatchery's Facebook page before visiting. CDFW asks visitors not to call the hatchery directly; phone is the education contact line printed.
