Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services holds its 33rd annual Run to Feed the Hungry on Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, November 26, 2026, starting on J Street at Sacramento State. Organizers call it a family-friendly event, and families can walk or run: the 10K starts at 8:15 a.m. and the 5K at 9:00 a.m., and nobody has to choose a distance in advance — your start time decides it. Each distance has separate corrals for competitive runners, runners and walkers. Baby strollers are allowed but must start in the walking corral; dogs are not allowed anywhere in the start, pre-race or post-race areas. For 2026, every participant is timed at no extra cost. 5K families are asked to wait on the Sac State esplanade behind the inflatable turkey until called onto J Street around 8:30 a.m., and it helps to agree on a meeting spot because lost-and-found (for people too) is next to the stage in the post-race area. Free parking is available in and around Sac State (the J Street campus entrance is closed until after the race), and a free bike valet operates on the esplanade. Registration is online through Race Roster, and shirts and bibs are collected at packet pickup at Fremont Presbyterian Church or mailed for $10 extra (request by November 12). All proceeds support the food bank.
