The Historic Folsom Ice Rink runs a Thursday afternoon Learn to Skate class for all ages and skill levels during its 2026–27 outdoor season in the Folsom Historic District. Skaters get instruction from the rink's skating school team, then stay on the ice for the 4:00 p.m. public skate session to practise what they learned. The class meets on four Thursdays at 4:00 p.m.: November 19 and December 3, 2026, and January 7 and January 14, 2027 — handy for school-age kids after classes. The $40 per-skater fee includes instruction, skate rental and admission to the 4:00 p.m. public session (public sessions at the rink last 90 minutes). Space is limited and advance registration is encouraged through the rink's ticket page. Because this is an outdoor rink, weather can affect ice quality, and staff may delay, modify or cancel a session if conditions are unsafe; bring gloves and warm layers. Families with preschoolers may prefer the separate Tuesday Grown-Ups & Gliders class, while the Saturday morning classes suit weekend schedules.
