URBAN-15 and Westside Stories Magazine

Westside Stories Magazine and URBAN-15 host a Day of the Dead lantern release at Elmendorf Lake Park, a community evening of remembrance for loved ones who have died. Lanterns are released onto Elmendorf Lake at 6:30 pm, followed at 7:30 pm by URBAN-15's annual Carnaval de Los Muertos procession, a 40-year tradition. Dancers in hand-made costumes with embedded lights carry glowing banners with photos of the departed along the park paths. Vendors and music round out the evening. It is free. Children who are old enough to stay up past dark tend to love the lights and drums.
