St. Mark's Episcopal Church downtown holds its annual intergenerational Las Posadas on the second Sunday of Advent. Participants of all ages, accompanied by mariachis, follow the footsteps of Mary and Joseph as they search for a place to stay in Bethlehem on the night Jesus was born, the traditional Mexican procession that children can walk in. Breakfast is provided afterward. The procession begins at 9:15 am and lasts about an hour; the church's 8:30 am service comes before it. The church is a few blocks from the River Walk, and the hour-long procession suits families with young children.
