The Mammen Family Public Library's annual Polar Express Festival fills the library in Bulverde from 10 am to 3 pm on the Saturday before Christmas. Children can see model trains from the New Braunfels Railroad Museum, hear readings from The Polar Express, take train rides, do a seasonal project with the Comal Master Gardeners (while supplies last), follow a scavenger hunt and sip cocoa. Families can take holiday photos and help build a giant train track in the Children's Area, a 'very special visitor' stops by, and the movie is screened too. Adults have a coffee bar all day. No registration is required; activity supplies are first come, first served. The library lists it for babies through school-age children and families.
