San Bruno's annual Holiday Tree Lighting gathers the community at Centennial Plaza on San Mateo Avenue from 5 pm, with live music, holiday activities and the lighting ceremony itself. Stay afterwards for Jingle Around the Block: at about 6 pm Santa zooms through the neighborhood on a fire truck, which is usually the highlight for young children. It is an easy early-evening outing on a weeknight, and the downtown setting means hot drinks and dinner are close by.
