About this adventure
Montalvo is a nonprofit arts center in the foothills above Saratoga, around the historic Villa Montalvo, with over 100 acres of woodland hiking trails and gardens that are free to the public year round. Families can wander the gardens, look for the temporary and permanent outdoor sculptures and installations in the Art on the Grounds collection, and spread a blanket for a picnic on the Great Lawn (there are no picnic tables or barbecues). The trails behind the villa are leased to Santa Clara County and run as a public park. Parts of the grounds and parking can be limited or closed for private events and Montalvo programs, especially on Friday–Sunday evenings from May to October, so check the closures list. Drive slowly through the estate; Lot 2 alongside the Great Lawn is closest to the villa and trails.
