About this adventure

De Anza College's planetarium in Cupertino, one of the largest school planetariums west of the Rockies with a 50-foot dome, opens to the public on most Saturdays from October through May. Each astronomy show pairs a featured fulldome film with a live tour of the night sky and space led by trained presenters, who take audience questions; the rotating schedule means a different film each week and a different set of constellations each season. Afternoon family shows suit young children: Magic Tree House: Space Mission follows Jack and Annie on a hunt through the Sun, Moon and planets (recommended for ages 4 and up), and Big Bird's Adventure: One World, One Sky introduces the night sky to preschoolers. Later slots offer Cosmic Journey and live constellation programs, and evening laser music shows round out the night. Starting in fall 2026 a parking permit is required on campus (buy online with code PPS2627 and park in student spaces, ideally Lot E). The planetarium is behind the Science Center building.
